i’m always so puzzled that ‘canon or non-canon’ is such a big deal. some relationships are just objectively very strong and very important to the characters in question, regardless of whether there is a physical dimension. that’s secondary really.
with most of my OTP-level ships I’m really sort of “whatever”. platonic or romantic, idc, it’s still love. this applies to a lot of ‘pairs’; holmes and watson, crowley and aziraphale, remus and sirius, sam and frodo… (actually lotr is full of this kind of friendship)

of course i love the idea of certain characters being silly and in love but that doesn’t mean friendship isn’t fucking heartbreaking
